Our Services
Natural stone, pavers, and engineered retaining walls — outdoor living built for New England's freeze-thaw cycles and decades of use.
What We Offer
From design to installation — outdoor masonry built to hold its shape through every New England winter.
Custom patio design using natural bluestone, granite, brick, or premium pavers — with proper 8–12" base excavation and compaction to prevent frost heave. Every patio is pitched for drainage so pooling water and ice buildup don't become problems after the first winter.
Engineered retaining walls built to hold grade without bowing, cracking, or toppling after a few winters. We use proper deadmen anchoring, drainage aggregate behind the wall, and perforated pipe at the footing to manage hydrostatic pressure year-round.
Natural stone and paver walkways and steps that complement your home's exterior and handle year-round foot traffic. Every step is laid with proper rise-run ratios and surface texture for winter traction — aesthetics and safety, not one or the other.
Built-in stone counters, outdoor kitchens, fire pit surrounds, and seating walls — designed and built in natural stone or brick to match your home's materials. We've built outdoor living structures that become the centerpiece of a property.
Proper grading and drainage solutions that direct water away from your foundation — protecting your basement and keeping your yard usable after heavy rain. Poor grading is one of the leading causes of foundation water intrusion in Greater Boston.
Brick and natural stone entry steps, stoops, and landings that make a strong first impression and hold up through decades of New England winters. We rebuild cracked or heaving stoops properly — not just resurface them to hide the underlying problem.
Our Process
From your first site visit to the final walkthrough — here's exactly what to expect when you work with FXL.
We visit your property, assess site conditions, drainage, and soil, and discuss your vision — then provide a detailed written estimate for the full project.
We finalize the layout, material selections, and any grading or drainage requirements before excavation starts — so the project proceeds smoothly from the first shovel.
Proper excavation, base compaction, and edging before a single paver or stone goes down. A lasting hardscape is built from the ground up — not from the surface down.
We inspect the finished work with you, confirm all grades and drainage are correct, and walk through maintenance recommendations before closing out the project.
Why Choose FXL
20 years building outdoor masonry that survives New England — not just the first season.
Every base is properly excavated and compacted to survive New England's freeze-thaw cycles without heaving or cracking.
We work with granite, bluestone, fieldstone, and premium pavers — selected for both durability and visual character.
Two decades of outdoor masonry in Greater Boston means we know what survives — and what doesn't — in this region.
